Installation Recommendation

Wil-Cor, Inc. recommends supervision by Wil-Cor or that this product be installed by experienced fiberglass installers. Preparation, mixing and application information is provided for installers with adequate installation experience.

Mix resin (part A) and catalyst (part B) at the job site, immediately prior to application. The pot life of AP 800-1 is very short (15 min.) so only mix quantities that can be used during a 10-minute period.

The mixing ratio of resin: catalyst will vary with temperature. The catalyst is Armor Plate 60, methyl ethyl ketone peroxide. Use 1.25 to 2.5 oz. of catalyst for each gallon of resin.

Surface Preparation

A clean surface is necessary to properly apply the Armor Plate 800-1. Remove dirt, oil and other contaminants by sandblasting or other mechanical methods. All surfaces must be dry before AP 800-1 is applied.

Sandblast steel to remove rust and provide a proper surface. Apply Armor Plate 800-1 within 8 hours of sandblasting.

Armor Plate 800-1 may be applied with a brush, roller, or by spray equipment. AP 800-1 should be applied within 8 hours of sandblasting steel surfaces.

Armor Plate 800-1 is available in stock sizes of 1-quart, 1-gallon and 55-gallons.

Coverage and Estimating

The approximate coverage of Armor Plate 800-1 is 125-150 sq. ft. / gallon per 10 mil thickness, depending on the surface texture.

Shelf Life

The expected shelf life of AP 800-1 is 3 – 6 months when sealed tightly and stored at temperatures around 75 °F.
