Description
Armorcoat 969+ is a 100% modified epoxy topping which bonds to damp concrete, withstands 98% sulfuric, HCL, nitric acids, caustics and many chemicals. The topping is tough and has excellent wear resistance. Armorcoat 969+ is a two-part liquid system to which sand or caustic inert granules are added. The surface texture depends on the type and amount of the granules used. Thickness of the AC 969+ is approximately 1/8″ to 1/4″.
Armorcoat 969+ can be successfully used to:
- Top surfaces such as: trenches, warehouse floors, storage tank steps and chemical loading ramps & docks
- Repair spalled concrete warehouses, industrial walk ways and irregular surfaces.
Advantages
- Low viscosity resin that is easily applied.
- Topping cures in the presence of moisture and adheres to damp concrete.
- Topping cures rapidly and may be used within hours, depending on temperature and humidity conditions.
- Topping has a high impact, tensile and bond strength for concrete and steel.
- Towmotor traffic does not damage topping.
Chemical Resistance
Armorcoat 969+ resists chemical attack from caustics, salts, solvents, dilute oxidizing acids and oil. AC 969+ also resists sulfuric acid up to 98%

Surface Preparation
For ALL Surfaces
- 1Old coatings and toppings must be removed.
- 2Surface must be sound and free of oil, grease and foreign materials.
- 3Concrete maybe damp but must be free of standing water. (The drier the concrete, the better the bond.)
For old, oil-soaked concrete surfaces
- 1Wet concrete surface with water.
- 2Clean the wetted surface with an alkaline cleaning powder, using a stiff bristle broom.
- 3Rinse surface with clean water and repeat procedure until the surface is visibly clean.
- 4Apply a 15% muriatic acid solution to the floor.
- 5When the muriatic acid solution on the surface stops bubbling, rinse the surface with clean water.
- 6Broom off or blow off all standing water before applying the Armorcoat 969+.
Mixing
For a 1/4″ (250 mil) coating, mix the A, B and C components of AC 969+ according to the following instructions:
- 1Pour the Armor Coat 969+ Resin (Part A) into a clean, dry mixing container.
- 2Add AC 969+ Cure (Part B) to Resin (Part A) in the proportions of 5.5 parts A to 1 part B by volume.
- 3Stir with a wooden stirring stick (4′ x 1″ x 2″) for at least 3 minutes or stir with a low speed (200-300rpm) power mixer for at least 2 minutes.
- 4Pour the completely mixed Armor Coat 969+ Resin and Cure into a 5-gallon pail, concrete mixer or a wheelbarrow for further mixing.
- 5Add the Armor Coat 969+ Slurry Aggregate (Part C) into the mixed Resin (Part A) and Cure (Part B), and mix well until all the particles are wetted out.
- 6MIXING EXAMPLE: Add one (1) quart Cure (B) to five and one-half (5.5) quarts Resin (A) in a 5-gallon pail. Mix well. Add two (2) 5-quart paint pots of Slurry Aggregate (C) or sand. Mix well until all particles are wetted out.
- 7To mix resin for grouting add sand slowly until the mixture is dough consistency or non-slumping.
Application
For 1/4″ (250 mil) Coating:
- 1Pour the Armor Coat 969+ slurry aggregate mixture onto the surface to be coated and spread to the desired thickness with a clean, short nap roller or trowel.
- 2Allow the AC 969+ to set 15-20 minutes and then broadcast sand onto the surface until there are no wet spots.
- 3Allow the resin to harden and sweep off any excess sand. The floor is now ready to use.
- 4To trowel finish the floor, wet trowel with water or solvent and trowel smooth. If a more non-skid surface is required, broadcast more sand onto the surface.
- 5Water may be used to remove the Armor Coat 969+ from trowels and other equipment, if clean-up is started before the mixture begins to set. After the AC 969+ has begun to set, a solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone, xylol or methylene chloride may be used for clean-up.
- 6Smooth surface – flood coat with AC 969+ A & B resin and cure only.
For 1/8″ (125 mil) Coating:
- 1Pour the Armor Coat 969+ Resin (Part A) into a clean, dry mixing container.
- 2Add AC 969+ Cure (Part B) to Resin (Part A) in the proportions of 5.5 parts A to 1 part B by volume.
- 3Stir with a wooden stirring stick (4’x 1 ” x 2″) for at least 3 minutes or stir with a low speed (200-300rpm) power mixer for at least 2 minutes.
- 4Roll coating onto surface using a long nap roller.
- 5Broadcast sand (approximately 1 pound/sq.ft.) or inert granules into the resin until there are no wet spots
- 6Allow the coating to cure, then sweep or blow off excess sand.
- 7A top coat is recommended, but optional.
- 8Water may be used to remove the Armor Coat 969+ from trowels and other equipment, if clean-up is started before the mixture begins to set. After the AC 969+ has begun to set, a solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone, xylol or methylene chloride may be used for clean-up.
Limitations
Do not use AC 969+ resin without sand aggregate when grouting areas deeper than 1/4″. Maximum coating thickness for AC 969.1 Vertical Kit is 1/16″. AC 969+, WHEN EXPOSED TO SOME STRONG ACIDS, WILL TURN RED on the exposed surface area; however, the integrity of the topping will not be affected.
Packaging
Armorcoat 969 is a four-component system that is available in premeasured units of 1.2-gallon (20 sq. ft. kits) and 6-gallon (100 sq. ft. kits).
